The executive branch is the branch of the US government that enforces the laws made by the legislative branch. But they don't interpret the laws. The head of the executive branch is the president, the head of state.
1. Grant reprieves and pardons (except in impeachment cases, of course)
2. Appoint Ambassadors
3. Appoints public ministers and consuls with the consent of senate
4. Can reject or accept the judges of the supreme court with the consent of senate
5. Can appoint basically any officer that is ranked below him with the consent of the senate
6. Can fill up vacancies during the recess of the senate
